Oed is part of the municipality of Altenmarkt an der Alz in the Upper Bavarian district of Traunstein . Since it currently has less than ten inhabitants, Oed is a hamlet . It is located in a water protection area (since around 2000) which was expanded around 2015.

The hamlet is located in the southern municipality 920 meters northwest of the Alz at 534  m above sea level. NHN and currently (as of September 2017) has eight residents. Oed consists of two buildings with a total of five residential units. The entire settlement is owned by one owner.

The immediate neighbors, including all hamlets, are in a clockwise direction Kalkgrub 0.4 km south-east, Grilleck 0.5 km south-west and Simmerreit 0.3 km north-west. The next larger town is the village of Rupertsdorf 1.2 km away.

As a rule, hamlets and wastelands have no street names because of their small size. Nowadays, this also applies to Oed with regard to the postal address of the residential units: the place name takes the place of the street name. In earlier times, however, the address was given with the street crossing the hamlet, Rupertsdorfer Straße .

economy

In Oed there is no longer an independent full-time farm. The employed residents therefore commute to other places, sometimes to Munich, around 75 km away. Agriculture is largely only for personal use and is limited to chicken and rabbit keeping and the cultivation of vegetables. Only a small surplus of eggs is sold during the summer half-year. The green-shelled hen eggs, which have a lower cholesterol content, enjoy a certain reputation among agricultural products. Since 2008 a snake breeding (corn snakes in various and also very special color morphs) is operated. In the 1980s, the only road in the village was paved, so that a direct connection to the state road 304 is now guaranteed. In 2018 the road was re-paved.
