Austrian-Hungarian bank
The Oesterreichisch-Hungarian Bank was a central bank in which Imperial Austria (or Cisleithanien or Old Austria) and royal Hungary ( Transleithanien ) were involved. It existed from 1878 to 1922 and served as the central bank for the single currency of both halves of Austria-Hungary , initially the guilder currency , later the kroner currency . The bank had its main offices and directorates in the former bank and stock exchange building, now known as Palais Ferstel , in the center of Vienna and on Szabadság tér No. 8–9 in Budapest ; Vienna was named as the bank's official headquarters.
