history

The OAG first began in 1853 as the ABC Alphabetical Railway Guide (German alphabetical railway guide - now OAG Rail Guide). This was followed by the first publication of the "Official Airline Guide" in the United States in 1929 , which kept a list of 35 airlines and 300 flights. In 1970 the OAG Pocket Flight Guide (German Airline Pocket Guide ) was published, which was mainly dedicated to business travelers.

The electronic edition was launched in 1983. This was the first online travel planning tool from OAG that included both flight and price information and was available from more than 20 network operators (including CompuServe and Dow Jones ). Additional databases (e.g. information on weather, arrivals and departures) were added in 1988. In 1999, Cathay Pacific was the first airline to offer its frequent flyer program participants online access to the OAG Travel Information System through its own website. In August 2000, the new Internet portal OAG.com was started, which offers direct access to the OAG database. The website also supports OAG Mobile , which offers wireless access to OAG travel information for WAP or GPRS mobile phones and PDAs .

Today, OAG Worldwide is constantly researching customer opinions to develop new technologies for its databases.
