Ogone was founded in 1996 by Harold Mechelynck and Thierry Pierson. Ogone emerged from an IT consultancy for banks and in 1999 developed its first platform for electronic payment methods for the Belgian market, Netclearing . With this solution, Ogone became the market leader in Belgium. In the following years the company expanded into the Netherlands, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Great Britain, India and the USA and now has its own subsidiaries in all these countries. Over 300 employees specialize in the requirements of payment transactions in electronic commerce . Today, Ogone has one of the most powerful and functionally richest payment processing platforms for processing electronic payment transactions. The company supports all industry-relevant security requirements and has been PCI DSS Level 1 certified since 2004 . With over 200 direct connections to banks and acceptance partners, Ogone has an international network to support dealers in national and international trade. The Ogone payment page is available in over 20 languages.

The Ogone platform is a technical interface that is seamlessly integrated between customers, retailers and acceptance partners for payment methods. With currently over 80 international and local online payment methods, Ogone lets your customers decide how they want to pay. Today Ogone has more than 40,000 customers in more than 45 countries who can process their transactions worldwide in the respective local currency . The solution is based on a software-as-a-service architecture (SaaS), so retailers do not need to install any hardware or software to use the Ogone technology.
