Ogonna Nneka Nnamani (born July 29, 1983 in Bloomington , Indiana ) is an American volleyball player .

The 1.85 meter tall player, whose parents immigrated to the United States from Nigeria, began her career on the Stanford University volleyball team , with which she won the NCAA championship in her first year in 2001 . At the same time, she went through the various youth national teams of the United States. In 2002 she was a member of the US national team for the first time. Her first major international tournament was the 2003 Pan American Games , where Nnamani won the bronze medal with the US team. In 2004 she finished fifth with the US team at the Olympic Games in Athens.

After graduating in human biology, Nnamani moved abroad to play volleyball professionally. She started with Pinkin de Corozal , Puerto Rico in 2006 and then played for Piacenza in Italy. In January 2007 she moved to VBC Voléro Zurich and then moved to Asystel Novara . She has been playing for Galatasaray Istanbul since the beginning of the 2008/2009 season .

At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, she was the second youngest player on the US team, despite her many years of experience. In the Olympic final, the Americans lost to Brazil and won the silver medal.

She is closely related to the governor of the Nigerian state Enugu , Chimaroke Nnamani .
