The Accra Sports Stadium (2004–2010: Ohene Djan Stadium , English Ohene Djan Stadium ) is a 40,000-person football stadium in Accra, Ghana .
Surname
It was originally named Accra Sports Stadium until it was named after Ohene Djan , the country's first sports director, in 2004. The renaming was particularly controversial among the Ga in Accra, in whose eyes a central building in the capital would have been the appropriate place to honor a prominent Ga. Despite the controversy, the stadium is widely considered the national stadium. In 2010 it was renamed to its current name.

The two popular clubs Hearts of Oak SC and Great Olympics play their home games at Ohene Djan Stadium. Occasionally the Ghanaian national team also plays there .
The Ohene Djan Stadium hosted nine African Cup of Nations 2000 games in Ghana and Nigeria. The final of the Africa Cup in 1978 was also held in what was then the Accra Sports Stadium . In May 2001, during a game there, a mass panic broke out in which 126 people were killed.
The stadium was modernized for the Africa Cup of 2008 and converted to FIFA standards. After the construction work was completed in October 2007, the facility was opened with a football tournament among four nations (the Zenith Cup ), from which Ghana emerged as the winner.
