Oileus (son of Odoidokos)

Oïleus ( ancient Greek Ὀιλεύς ) was a mythical king of the Lokrians, the inhabitants of Lokris in central Greece. His parents were Odoidokos and Laonome . Hyginus names Leodacus and Agrianome as parents. His brother was the founder of the city of the same name, Kalliaros .

He was married to Eriopis , their son was Ajax the little one , who was born in Naryka , the hometown of Oïleus according to Hyginus. In a tragedy by Sophocles that cannot be determined, Oïleus consoled Telamon when Telamon learned of the death of his son, the great Ajax . But when he found out about the death of his own son, he lost his composure.

With his lover Rhene (a nymph ) he had the son Medon , leader of the Phthians before Troy .

In the Argonautica of Apollonios of Rhodes , Oileus took part in the Argonautical voyage and was injured in the attack of the Stymphalian birds by a feather that dug into his left shoulder like an arrow.
