Oku-Shirase Daira (from Japanese 奥 白 瀬 平 , inner Shirase area ' ) is a glacier field in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is located on the Mizuho plateau at an altitude between 1500 and 2000 m . This area is the result of the flow activity of the Shirase Glacier .
Japanese scientists carried out surveys from 1960 to 1961 and named it in 1963 based on the name of the neighboring glacier. Its namesake is the Japanese polar explorer Shirase Nobu (1861-1946), leader of the First Japanese Expedition (1910-1912).
