Ola & the Janglers
Ola & the Janglers was a Swedish rock band from Sollentuna , which was very well known in their homeland in the 1960s and was assigned to the garage rock genre .
Career
The group was founded in 1962 by Ola Håkansson under the influence of the British invasion , which was also felt in Scandinavia. The first single was released in 1964 under the name "The Janglers with Ola", the other recordings then under "Ola & the Janglers".
The group was particularly influenced by the two British bands Manfred Mann and The Zombies . Mostly she played cover versions . Her first single hit in Sweden was the 1965 recording She's Not There , originally released in 1964 by the Zombies . Other hits, mainly in Sweden, included Poetry in Motion in 1966 ( Johnny Tillotson , 1960), Runaway in 1967 ( Del Shannon , 1961) or 96 Tears in 1966 ( Question Mark & the Mysterians , 1966).
With the song Let's Dance , originally by Chris Montez from 1962, they made it into the US charts for the first time on May 24, 1969 . They reached number 92 and lasted three weeks. It was the very first hit parade listing for a Swedish band in the United States.
Ola founded the pop group Secret Service in 1979 , which then also included drummer Leif Johansson.
