Johnny Tillotson

Johnny Tillotson (born April 20, 1938 in Jacksonville , Florida ) is an American country and pop singer.

Live and act

Tillotson grew up in Palatka , Florida. In the mid-1940s he made his first radio recordings and appeared on the show "Young Folks Revue" at the age of nine . He signed a record deal (with Cadence Records , the Everly Brothers label ) in 1958 and had his first hit in the USA with “Well I'm Your Man” . He brought a total of 25 singles into the top 100 by 1966, 14 of them into the top 40. He also had success in the US country charts, including the ballad-like “Send Me the Pillow That You Dream On” and “Dreamy” Eyes " . One title hit the charts in Germany, namely his biggest hit “Poetry in Motion” (No. 2 in the USA, No. 1 in Great Britain). Moreover Tillotsons song was " You Can Never Stop Me Loving You " - itself a cover of British hits of Kenny Lynch - in the German version of Bernd Spier ( "You can not stop me" ) 1964 for five weeks at number one .

In 1965 his chart career in pop ended, as a singer and also as a songwriter, smaller hits in the country charts followed. Attempts as an actor in the late 1960s were unsuccessful, but as a show singer he subsequently made major appearances in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe and Reno. He recorded other singles until 1990, and toured as a musician until the 2010s.
