Secret Service is a Swedish pop / New Wave - band of the 1980s, which had its greatest successes between 1979 and 1982. During this time, seven singles were placed in the European charts, including the most famous songs by the group Oh Susie , Ten O'Clock Postman and Ye-si-ca . Four years later, When the Night Closes In was the last single hit in Germany.
Band history
In 1979 Ola Håkansson , former singer of Ola & the Janglers (a group that was very successful in Sweden in the 1960s and 1970s) teamed up with Ulf Wahlberg and Tim Norell to form the group "Ola + 3" to write some songs for to write the Melodifestivalen . With the title Det känns som jag vandrar fram , written by Wahlberg , they only took third place, but decided to continue working together. However, the band name was changed to "Secret Service".
The first single Oh Susie , released in autumn 1979, was a hit across Europe and South America . Hakansson wrote the lyrics, the music was by Norell.
Although Norell wrote most of the songs with Hakansson, he was never officially a member of the group. Hakansson called himself Björn Hakanson as the author, later also Oson. The next big hit in Europe was Ten O'Clock Postman in the summer of 1980, followed by Ye-si-ca and LA Goodbye in the spring of 1981.
The last European hits were Flash in the Night and Cry Softly in 1982 . Other well-known songs by the group were Let Us Dance Just a Little Bit More and Dancing in Madness . With When the Night Closes In , the formation was represented in the German charts for the last time in the spring of 1986.
For the last LP Aux deux magots , released in 1988 , Tonny Lindberg, Leif Paulsen and Leif Johannson were replaced by Anders Hansson ( keyboard , guitar , percussion ) and Mats A. Lindberg (bass).
In 2000, the CD Top Secret was released in Sweden , for which the original members of the band got together again and three new songs were released with Bring Heaven Down , Destiny of Love and The Sound of the Rain .
In June 2012 the CD The Lost Box was released . It contains ten previously unreleased songs as well as Different, which was released in 2009 . Tim Norell found the songs in a box while cleaning up in 2007.
