Olaf Bock

Olaf Bock (born February 26, 1973 in East Berlin ) is a former German wrestler in freestyle and currently teacher trainer at the elite school of sports in Luckenwalde .

Life

In 1990 Bock started at the Junior World Championships in the weight class up to 54 kg. At that time still starting for the GDR, he finished 10th. A year later he became German A youth champion and took 4th place in the weight class up to 58 kg at the European championships. As a German junior champion, Bock started at the world championships in 1993 and finished eighth. In the same year he made a name for himself with silver at the FILA Men's Grand Prix in Bratislava. After completing his apprenticeship as a banker, he began studying sports and economics in Potsdam in 1996. In 1998 Olaf Bock started again internationally in Leipzig after a year break (cruciate ligament surgery) and a change in weight class. After victories over Tserenbaatar, Nassari and Urin he was stopped by the later European champion Bankuti and finished fifth.

After completing his studies and traineeship as a vocational school teacher, Bock started again internationally at the Fila tournament in Palermo in 2003 and came third. After the 2nd place in the DM 2004 (up to 66 kg) the runner-up title in 2005 and the German championship title in 2006 with the team of the 1st Luckenwalder SC followed. From 2006 to 2007 Bock fought for SV Germania Weingarten, where he ended his career after another cruciate ligament tear. He then trained the men's team of the RC Germania Potsdam from 2008-2009 and was able to win first national medals with his athletes. From 2010 to 2016 he worked as a teacher trainer at the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Oberschule Luckenwalde with the title Elite School of Sports. In 2012, 6 athletes in his training group reached the finals at the German individual championships. In the end there was one gold, five silver and one participation in the Cadet World Cup. From 2014 to 2016, 5 of his athletes won 7 championship titles at German individual championships and one participation in the 2016 Cadet European Championship. The team of the 1st LSC won 2nd place at the 2014 student team championships.
