Olaf in der Beek (born July 31, 1967 in Bochum ) is a German politician ( FDP) and has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2017 .

Life

After graduating from a university of applied sciences, he began studying business administration at the Bochum University of Applied Sciences , which he was unable to complete for family reasons. Until the end of his studies, Joachim Schultz-Tornau worked as a personal advisor for the member of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament until he switched to the media industry in 1993. After he had risen to become an officer in the publishing and printing industry, he started from 2008 in the media industry independently and was before his entry into the German Bundestag managing partner of a medium composite company, of which he in 2016 of a self-administration had to lead. At the beginning of 2017, the company's insolvency could not be averted.

After being active in the FDP and the Young Liberals in the Beek in the 1980s, then suspended his membership for 20 years and finally left the party, he re-enrolled with the Free Democrats in 2013. Here he is district chairman of the FDP Bochum and a member of the district board of the FDP in the  Ruhr area . In addition to his position as the state chairman of the  Liberal Mittelstand in North Rhine-Westphalia, he has also been a member of the federal board of the Liberal Mittelstand since 2017.

For the general election in 2017 , the former candidate Fellow of the Naumann Foundation in Beek in the constituency Bochum I , and went into space 19 of the country's list of the FDP North Rhine-Westphalia in the 19th German Bundestag one.

In the 19th German Bundestag is chairman of the committee for economic cooperation and development . He is also a full member of the Committee for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety . Beek is represented as a deputy member of the Foreign Affairs Committee .

Private

In der Beek is married and has two biological adult children and an adult stepdaughter. He is a member of the country team Ubia Brunsviga Palaeomarchia in the CC in Bochum.
