Olav Thon
Olav Thon (born June 29, 1923 in Ål im Hallingdal ) is a Norwegian real estate entrepreneur and one of the richest people in Norway with an estimated total assets of around NOK 12 billion (€ 1.5 billion). He was ranked 334th on Forbes' 2009 list of the richest people with assets of approximately $ 2 billion.
Live and act
In 1951 he bought the first building and in 1966 he opened his first restaurant. To him belong u. a. 47 hotels of the Thon hotel chain and various shopping centers in Norway. The group has a total of around 420 buildings in Norway and another 25 outside of it.
He lives in Sollihøgda , a part of Hole Municipality .
Planned foundation
In September 2008 it was announced that he would like to contribute almost all of his assets to a foundation.
