Athletic career
In the club
Olcay Başarır started his career at Boluspor . The midfielder played for two years in the second division and then moved to Mersin İdman Yurdu . Başarır left Mersin after one season and then played for Galatasaray Istanbul .
The midfielder made three games during his season with Galatasaray. In the following season, his sporting situation changed. He ended the 1970/71 season with 24 league games and four goals, and he was also the first time Turkish champions. Başarır was able to successfully defend the championship with his teammates in 1972 and 1973.
The 1972/73 season was his last and he ended his career.
