The Olcza is a district of the Polish town of Zakopane at the foot of the Western Tatras in the Tatra County in the Malopolska province .

The district is located in the east of the city at an altitude of 803 meters above sea level. The Olczyski Potok brook flows through the district .

history

The place was created in 1629. In the middle of the 19th century he got his own parish, which became independent in 1914, and a school at the turn of the century. The Marian Shrine was built in 1988.

etymology

The name can be translated as a regional modification of the term "Olsza" as "Alder", whereby it goes back to the alder trees that occur here.
