Oldrich Rulc

Oldřich Rulc (born March 28, 1911 in Strašnice , Austria-Hungary , † April 4, 1969 ) was a Czech football player . He took part in the 1938 World Cup with the Czechoslovak national team.

Player career

Oldřich Rulc was born in Strašnice, which was incorporated into Prague in 1922 , he began playing football at Sparta Prague . For the top Czech club, the left winger made his debut in the first Czechoslovakian league in the 1929/30 season. After the end of the season, Rulc moved to SK Židenice , a Brno club that played in the 2nd division at the time, and rose to the 1st division in 1933. That year Oldřich Rulc was used for the first time in the Czechoslovak national team, in the squad for the World Cup in 1934, however, in Antonín Puč he had a competitor too big at that time.

With the SK Židenice Rulc was denied a title win, even if the team ended a few times the season on the top of the table. Rulc made ten games for SK Židenice in the Mitropapokal .

In 1938 he was in the squad for the 1938 World Cup, in which Czechoslovakia could not repeat their four-year-old success as runner-up world champions. In total, Rulc played 17 international matches between 1933 and 1938, in which he scored two goals.

For SK Židenice Rulc scored 65 league goals, in total he ran in over 700 league, cup and friendly matches for the Brno club.
