The Old Mans Head ( English for old man head ) is a dark headland on the Black Coast of the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It marks the south side of the entrance to the Wüst Inlet .
Participants of the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941) discovered and photographed the headland in December 1940 from the air. Further aerial photographs were taken in 1947 during the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947–1948), whose participants also carried out on-site geodetic surveys in collaboration with the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS). The FIDS also carried out the descriptive naming.
