Old Town Eureka is a Historic District in Eureka , California .
The 141 acre historic neighborhood is located on 1st, 2nd and 3rd Streets between "C" and "M" Streets. Most of the houses are from the Victorian era . The former Bank of Eureka , which was built in 1911 during the Renaissance Revival , has housed the Clarke Memorial Museum since 1960 , which contains a large collection of Native American basketry from the region as well as sovereign insignia and other artifacts from the Hoopa , Karok and Yurok . The most famous Contributing property , which lies to the east outside the actual Old Town is that in the Queen Anne style built Carson Mansion . It is considered to be one of the most photographed and best preserved Victorian buildings in California
As of November 30, 1950, the neighborhood has been registered by the state parks as a California Historical Landmark . On October 15, 1991, Old Town Eureka was added to the National Register of Historic Places with 154 contributing properties .
