Oleg Svyatoslavich

Oleg Swjatoslawitsch ( Ukrainian Олег Святославич ; * around 955, † 977 ) was a prince of the Drewlyans .

Life

Oleg was a son of Prince Svyatoslav I of Kiev , his mother was not named. He was probably born around 955.

In 970 he became prince of the Drewlyans when his father went on a campaign to the Volga Bulgarians . His brother Yaropolk became Prince of Kiev. By 972 disputes began between the two. Allegedly, the reason is supposed to have been the murder of the son of the general of Jaropolk by Oleg.

In 977 Oleg died in the course of this conflict by falling from a bridge in front of Owrutsch Castle .

Marriages and offspring

A wife and descendants were not mentioned in Old Russian chronicles.

A Czech chronicle from the 16th century names an Oleg from Rus as the progenitor of the Žerotin family in Moravia.
