Lans Bovenberg
Ary Lans Bovenberg (born June 15, 1958 in Oosterbeek ) is a Dutch economist .
Life
Bovenberg studied econometrics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam with the doctoral examination (diploma) in 1981 and received his doctorate in 1984 at the University of California, Berkeley , with Laura Tyson (Capital Accumulation and Capital Immobility: Q-theory in a Dynamic General Equilibrium Framework) . He then worked for the International Monetary Fund before returning to the Netherlands in 1990. There he is a professor at the University of Tilburg .
He initially dealt with taxation and tax competition among open societies, optimal taxation, environmental economics ( double dividend hypothesis ) and later with questions of the aging of society and the economy of the pension system, the labor market and social security.
He is a member of the Social and Economic Council (SER) of the Netherlands and was Deputy Director of the Centraal Planbureau (CPB) of the Netherlands from 1995 to 1998. In 2004 he founded the research institute Netspar, of which he is director.
He is close to the Christian Democrats. Bovenberg also commented on the relationship between the economy and the Christian religion and became an active member of the Pentecostal movement during his stay in the US .
