Gangster. The Bosses of Chicago is a book by illustrator and book artist Robert Nippoldt . It was published in 2005 by Gerstenberg Verlag . In the same year it was published in French by La Joie de Lire. The book won various design awards; In 2005 it was awarded by the German Designer Club and in 2006 it received the Red Dot Design Award .

On 144 pages, the author introduces important gang bosses and explains their importance for Chicago's criminal milieu in the 1920s. The biographical portraits are embedded in historical and cultural facts. Each gangster is provided with a personal profile that contains information about their crimes, years in prison and the number of murders.
