Ivan Martinović (born January 6, 1998 ) is a Croatian handball player .

Career

Martinović began to play handball at the handball club Fivers Margareten in Vienna . Since the Margaretner were represented with their second team in the Handball Bundesliga Austria , the left-hander has played for them. In 2013/14 the Croatian was used for the first time in the Handball League Austria . In 2014/15 , the backcourt player secured his first title as part of the first team by winning the final of the ÖHB Cup . A year later Martinović was able to defend the title in the Margareten sports hall. The team also secured the Austrian championship title this season. In 2016/17 , the backcourt player again won the ÖHB Cup with the Viennese. After the 2016/17 season , Martinović was named “Newcomer of the Year”.

In 2018, the Croat signed a three-year contract with VfL Gummersbach , which will be valid from the 2018/19 season . In summer 2019 he switched to TSV Hannover-Burgdorf .

Ivan Martinović took part in the Youth World Cup 2015 in Russia with the youth team of the Croatian national team. In 2017 the backcourt player was again part of the youth team of the Croatian national team which took part in the 2017 World Youth Championship in Georgia. At the end of the tournament, he was voted into the All-Star Team as the best right backcourt.

Private

His brother Marin also plays handball and is currently active for the handball club Fivers Margareten .
