Tobias Wagner (born March 26, 1995 in Vienna ) is an Austrian handball player .

Career

Born in Vienna, he began playing handball in a youth team with the Perchtoldsdorf Devils, before moving to the Fivers Margareten handball club in 2011 . In addition to his activity in club handball, he was also in training at the Bad Vöslau handball academy.

In 2013 the 1.96 meter tall runner played for the first time in both the Handball Bundesliga Austria and the Handball League Austria . This season he was named “Newcomer of the Year” by the Handball League Austria. In 2015 and 2016 , Wagner secured the ÖHB Cup with the Fivers Margareten handball club and the Austrian championship title in 2016 . For the 2016/17 season he moved to the German first division club HBW Balingen-Weilstetten . In 2017 he was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga with Balingen. For the 2018/19 season, Wagner switched back to the Fivers Margareten handball club , but turned down other offers from Alpla HC Hard and Bregenz Handball .

Tobias Wagner also took part in two European youth championships with the national youth team born in 1994 and younger and was able to achieve 6th place each time. In preparation for the 2014 home youth championship, Team 94, as it was called in Austria, took part in HLA matches. Wagner belongs to the squad of the Austrian national team , for which he has so far played 47 international matches, in which he scored 80 goals.
