Mathias Nikolic (born February 2, 1991 in Vienna ) is an Austrian handball player .

Career

Nikolic began playing handball in 2002 at the Fivers Margareten handball club. At the age of 17, the Viennese made his debut in the Handball League Austria . Since the 2009/10 season , the trained back player has been regularly used in the first team. With the handball club Fivers Margareten he won the Austrian championship in 2011 , 2016 and 2018 . In addition, Nikolic was able to win the ÖHB Cup in 2012 , 2013 , 2015 , 2016 and 2017 . While it was mainly used in the Handball Bundesliga Austria in 2013/14 , the focus shifted back to the first division in the 2014/15 season . There the 1.81 meter tall right-hander, since then mainly left winger, is used. In May 2015 Nikolic extended his contract for another two years. In March 2020, the backcourt player was signed by Union St. Pölten for the relegation battle in the Spusu Challenge . For the 2020/21 season Nikolic was signed by Union Leoben for the spusu Challenge.

In addition to his career as a handball player, Nikolic studies mathematics and sports at the PH Vienna .
