Damir Djukic (* 29. January 1984 in Mostar ) is a from Yugoslavia originating handball player with Austrian citizenship.
Career
As a player
Damir Djukic, who is 1.93 meters tall and weighs 94 kilograms, played in 2011 for the Spanish second division team BM Toledo . After he got into financial difficulties, Djukic moved to RK Maribor Branik in January 2012 . Before that, he played briefly, also in the Spanish second division, at Helvetia Anaitasuna , after leaving BM Alcobendas , for whom he has played since 2007. Before that he was under contract in Austria at A1 Bregenz , HC Linz and UHC Tulln . At his first stop at UHC Tulln, he was named Newcomer of the Year by the Handball League Austria . He was also able to win the Austrian Championship twice and the ÖHB Cup once with Bregenz Handball, and the ÖHB Cup once with the UHC Tulln.
In the 2012/13 season he ran for Union Leoben . However, his contract was not extended by moving to Tatabánya KC . After only one year in Hungary Djukic was signed by Union St. Pölten and thus again by a club of the Handball League Austria . In the basic season of the 2014/15 season , the St. Pölten player scored 117 goals and thus became the top scorer ex aequo with Sasa Barisic-Jaman . In the summer of 2015, the backcourt player was signed by Handball Tirol for two years . However, the contract was terminated in January 2017. At the same time, Union Leoben announced that Djukic had been signed for the remainder of the 2016/17 season . The backcourt player ran for Lebeon until the 2018/19 season before ending his career as a player.
For the Austrian national team , he scored 68 goals in 79 international matches.
As a trainer
Djukic was hired as a player- coach for the 2017/18 season and is thus starting his coaching career in Leoben . From 2019/20 he was hired by the HSG Graz and thus succeeded Aleš Pajovič . In February 2020 he was given leave of absence from the HSG Graz.
