Raul Santos (born June 1, 1992 in Santo Domingo , Dominican Republic ) is an Austrian handball player of Dominican origin.

Santos came to Austria at the age of eleven and began playing handball at Union Leoben a year later . With the club he rose in 2008 to the top Austrian league. In both the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons, the outside player was the top scorer in the regular season of the Handball League Austria .

In January 2013 Santos signed a contract until 2015 with the German Bundesliga club VfL Gummersbach . From February 2013, the 1.80 meter tall left winger played in Gummersbach. Nevertheless, after 2011/12 he was also elected to the All-Star Team of the Austrian league for the 2012/13 season. In October 2014 he extended his contract with VfL by two years until 2017. From the 2016/17 season he played at THW Kiel , with whom he won the DHB Cup in 2017 . In summer 2018 he moved to SC DHfK Leipzig . Things didn't go well for him there. So he was transferred to the third division due to his performance in between in the second team. And at the beginning of the 2019/20 season he was not in the Bundesliga squad of the SC DHfK, but was then used again because his colleague Esche was seriously injured. For Leipzig, he scored 37 goals in 36 games, five of them seven meters.

For the 2020/21 season, Santos returned to VfL Gummersbach, where he signed a two-year contract.

National team

At the age of 18, Raul Santos made his debut in the Austrian national team , with which he took part in the 2014 European Championship and the 2015 World Championship.
