Janko Bozovic (* 14 July 1985 in Bar , SR Montenegro , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a from Yugoslavia originating handball player with Austrian citizenship.

Career

The 2.03 meter tall and 101 kilogram heavy Božović is under contract with the second division VfL Gummersbach and is mostly used in the right back space.

Janko Božović made his debut for the UHK West Vienna in the Handball League Austria . In the summer of 2006 he moved to Nit / Hak Nittedal in Norway; but already in December he moved on to the Spanish second division club OAR La Coruña. When Mark Bult was injured in September 2007 , his club, the Füchse Berlin , looked for a replacement in the right back space and took Božović under contract. However, the latter did not know how to convince, so that after six months he signed on with Dunaferr SE . In summer 2008 he moved to Italgest Casarano. After only one season in Italy, he joined the Slovenian club RD Slovan.

In February 2011 he moved to the Bundesliga for TSG Friesenheim. From the beginning of the 2011/12 season he wore the jersey of TV Emsdetten , with which he was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2013. After the immediate relegation, he moved to the Belarusian champions Brest GK Meschkow in the summer of 2014 . In 2015 Božović signed a two-year contract with the Macedonian association RK Metalurg Skopje . In 2016 the back player moved to Sporting Lisbon . With Sporting he won the EHF Challenge Cup in 2017 and the Portuguese championship in 2017 and 2018. In summer 2018 he returned to TV Emsdetten. At the beginning of August 2019, he moved to VfL Gummersbach .

He played 148 international matches for the Austrian men's national handball team . His mother Stanka Božović was also an Austrian national player.
