Peter Eckl (* 24. July 1976 in Vienna ) is a from Austria originating Handball coach .

Career

Eckl started playing handball at the Fivers Margareten handball club at the age of eleven . Since the Viennese could not recommend himself for the first team, he started training as a coach at the age of 18. In the course of his apprenticeship, Eckl interned at Frisch Auf Göppingen in Germany . While he was initially only used in the youth field, he soon took over the position of assistant coach of the HLA team at the side of Romas Magelinskas . In 2008/09 , the team won their first title when they won the Cup . At the beginning of the 2010/11 season , Margaretner took over the post of coach from Magelinskas. In his debut season as head coach, he was able to secure the first championship title in the club's history with the team. For this achievement he was named "Coach of the Year" by the league. In 2011/12 , 2012/13 , 2014/15 , 2015/16 and 2016/17 he won the ÖHB Cup again with the Viennese. Since taking office, Eckl has won a national title every season except 2013/14, and he has also participated in the Supercup with the Fivers every time since it was introduced in 2012. In 2013, 2014 and 2015 this game could also be won. In 2015/16 he was able to win the championship again with the team and was again named "Coach of the Year" for this season. In 2017/18 the Viennese and his team won the championship again and was voted coach of the year by the league for the third time.
