Joshua Thiele (born June 10, 1998 in Pinneberg ) is a German handball player . He plays in the circle position and is currently under contract with Bundesliga club GWD Minden . He is considered to be particularly strong defensive.

Career

Thiele grew up in Buxtehude and started playing handball there at Buxtehuder SV . In 2013 he switched to the youth team of TSV Hannover-Burgdorf and reached the semi-finals of the German championship with the A-youth team in the 2016/17 season . From then on he was in the squad of the professional team in the Bundesliga and was able to advance with the team to the final of the DHB Cup in the 2017/18 season . After a 26:30 defeat against the Rhein-Neckar Löwen , however, they had to be satisfied with the runner-up title. The following year the quarter-finals of the EHF Cup were reached. For the 2020/21 season, Thiele switched to GWD Minden .

With the junior national team, he won the bronze medal at the U-20 European Championship 2018 and was named the best defender.
