Carsten Lichtlein (born November 4, 1980 in Würzburg ) is a German handball goalkeeper who plays for GWD Minden . He has been the record player in the Bundesliga since December 19, 2019 .
Career
society
He is 2.02 m tall and weighs 100 kg. Lichtlein began his handball career at TG Heidingsfeld and then switched to the Bundesliga team TV Großwallstadt via TV Kirchzell . From 2005 to 2013 he played as the successor to Christian Ramota at TBV Lemgo . For the 2013/14 season Lichtlein moved to VfL Gummersbach . In the 2019/20 season he played for HC Erlangen . He then moved to GWD Minden .
National team
He plays for the German national handball team and has so far played 220 international matches and scored one goal. He made his international debut on November 27, 2001 in Aichwald against Austria . For the world championship title in 2007 he was awarded the silver bay leaf . At the European Championships in Poland in 2016 , he became European champions with the German team with a 24:17 victory over Spain . In December 2017, Lichtlein was nominated by national coach Christian Prokop for the extended squad for the European Championship 2018 .
Private
His father Artur Lichtlein was a goalkeeper at TG Heidingsfeld . In 2000 Lichtlein graduated from the X-ray high school in Würzburg . He is married with two sons and is a tax clerk by profession .
