Way of life
The song of the Olive Mocker is louder, slower and deeper than that of other mockers. The nest is usually built in dense vegetation in a tree or large bush. The nests are usually 1 to 3 meters above the ground on the outer branches. They are made of bast, blades of grass, roots and webs on the outside. Plant wool, grass panicles, horse hair and down are used inside. The nest is built and the eggs are incubated by the female. The three to four eggs are pale purple and spotted black and have a size of 21 × 14 millimeters. The breeding season is about 13 days. An additional shift is possible. Feed both parent birds, the young birds leave the nest after 2 weeks and are still not quite able to fly. In September and early October the birds move to their winter quarters in East Africa, from where they return in early May.
