Oliver Geissmann

Oliver Geissmann (born December 9, 1978 in Grabs , Switzerland ) is a Liechtenstein sports shooter .

Life

The first highlight of his career was the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney . There he led the Liechtenstein delegation consisting of 2 athletes as the flag bearer at the opening ceremony . In terms of sport, the games were less glamorous. In air rifle shooting , he only shot 582 rings in qualification and was eliminated. In the end, he finished 41st.

In 2003, however, Geissmann succeeded in advancing to the top of the world. At the World Cup competition in Changwon , South Korea , he finished 7th with 595 rings.

He was able to confirm this achievement in 2004 when he reached third place with 596 rings at the Grand Prix of Liberation in the Czech Republic and shortly afterwards he secured the title of Swiss champion for the first time in his career . In the same year he was elected Sportsman of the Year in Liechtenstein .

Geissmann thus qualified for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens . There was of it as the only athletes his country. In the competition with the 10-m air rifle, Geissmann shot 591 rings in qualification and missed the final by three rings. In the end, he finished 22nd.

At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , he came in 34th place in the 10-meter air rifle shooting .

Geissmann is looked after by the trainer Erhard Hüppi. In addition to his sporting career, Geissmann founded a real estate agency in 2002 with his team colleague Martin Seger.
