Oliver Kehrl (born July 8, 1967 in Cologne ) is a German entrepreneur and politician ( CDU ). He has been a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia since 2017 .

Life

Kehrl grew up in Cologne and graduated from the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in 1986 . The civil service at the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund in Cologne was followed by a three-month internship at Daimler-Benz AG in Sindelfingen . From 1988 onwards, Kehrl studied business administration at the University of Cologne with a focus on marketing and trade. He presented his diploma thesis on the subject of privatization and deregulation of local public transport . In 1992 the exam at the University of Cologne followed.

From 1993 onwards, Kehrl worked for the textile company S.Oliver for six years. In 1995 he founded AIDA Textilvertriebs GmbH, which operates nine retail stores in the greater Cologne area with around 40 employees. Kehrl is the managing director and secretary of the Aktiongemeinschaft Rodenkirchen eV as well as the CFO of the Treffpunkt Rodenkirchen eV

Kehrl joined the CDU in May 2016. Since March 2018 he has been the chairman of the district 2 Rodenkirchen of the CDU Cologne.

In the state elections in May 2017 , Kehrl in constituency 13 (Cologne I) was elected as a direct candidate for the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. He won the constituency with 34.2% of the first votes . In parliament he became a full member of the legal committee, the committee for economy, energy and regional planning and the committee for digitization and innovation.

In addition, Oliver Kehrl sits on the commission of inquiry on the digital transformation of the world of work in North Rhine-Westphalia and is spokesman for the CDU faction in Parliamentary Investigation Committee 3 to investigate the death of a prisoner in the Kleve prison.

In addition to the state parliament mandate, Kehrl has also held a board position at the NRW trade association since May 2017 , has been on the advisory board of the Cologne penal institution since May 2018 and is a member of the CDU's economic council.
