Olivia Arthur (* 1980 in London ) is a multiple award-winning British photojournalist and one of the youngest members of the Magnum photo agency .

Act

Olivia Arthur graduated from Oxford University with a degree in mathematics in 2002 . In 2003 she graduated from the College of Printing in London with a degree in photojournalism . She then worked as a freelance photo journalist.

She went traveling with a tent as mobile accommodation. She attracted attention in the professional world above all with reports from areas to which outsiders are usually not allowed access. She photographed Saudi Arabian women in their home environment. Although Olivia Arthur was not allowed to portray the women unveiled, the pictures make a lot of their lives between high walls and rigid rules clear. Her first book was created from the work in 2012: Jeddah Diary .

She stayed in India for two and a half years and mainly photographed untouchables , many portraits of faces with tattoos.

Olivia Arthur has been a member of the independent Magnum photo agency since 2008. Reports from her are in the collections of the Camera Museum in Vevey , Switzerland and in the National Media Museum in Bradford .
