Olivier Eggimann (born January 28, 1919 in Renens , Lausanne , † April 16, 2002 there ) was a Swiss football player . He was a Swiss national soccer player and took part in the soccer world championships in 1950 and 1954 .

Private

Olivier Eggimann grew up in Renens, a suburb of Lausanne. After his football career, he was vice director of a cistern factory .

Eggimann started playing football at FC Renens , where he also opened a junior section. In 1936 he moved to FC Lausanne-Sport in the first Swiss league (then: National League) before joining the BSC Young Boys in 1939 . In 1941 he came back to Lausanne-Sports before moving to Servette FC Genève in 1948 . In 1952 he joined ES Malley in the second Swiss football league NLB. A year later he moved to FC La Chaux-de-Fonds , where he ended his career in 1956. Eggimann scored 64 goals in a total of 388 games in the Swiss premier league.

The trained striker, who matured into a middle runner due to his enormous running quota over the years, was four times Swiss champion and five times cup winner.

National team

Eggimann made his national team debut in Bern on April 20, 1941 , against Germany . It ended 2-1 for Switzerland. He played a total of 44 international matches and did not score a single goal. 1950 and 1954 he was a participant in the soccer world championship. He was part of the team that was on the pitch in the legendary heat battle of Lausanne against Austria in 1954 (final score 7: 5 for Austria).
