Olly Alexander , actually Oliver Alexander Thornton , (born July 15, 1990 in Yorkshire , England ) is a British film and theater actor and singer with the band Years & Years .
Life
Olly Alexander was born on July 15, 1990 in Yorkshire , England. His mother, Vicki Thornton, is the founder of the Coleford Music Festival . Alexander is openly gay.
Career
Alexander had his first television role in the British series Summerhill in 2008. In 2009 he starred in Jane Campions Bright Star . In 2010 he starred in Gulliver's Travels alongside Jack Black . In 2012 he got a role in Mike Newell's Dickens adaptation Great Expectations . In 2014 he appeared in Lone Scherfig's The Riot Club .
Alexander's band Years & Years was founded in 2010. The band's debut single is called I Wish I Knew . On July 10, 2015, the band's debut album "Communion" was released, which made it to number 1 in the UK charts.
