Olympe Audouard

Olympe Audouard , née Félicité-Olympe de Jouval (born March 13, 1832 in Marseille , † January 12, 1890 in Nice ), was one of the most important representatives of the feminist movement in France in the second half of the 19th century .

She was the daughter of the lord of the castle of St. Julien (Boucluse department). Her marriage to the notary Henri-Alexis Audouard , which she entered into in Marseille on April 11, 1850, failed after just a few years. The divorce did not take place until 1885.

In a myriad of lectures and publications , she devoted herself to general reforms in civil legislation, in particular to the subject of divorce and the question of equality for women .
