Rondò Veneziano

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rondò Veneziano is an Italian orchestra . His repertoire is mostly drawn from original compositions by Gian Piero Reverberi , which are based on the style of Venetian baroque music , but also incorporate modern elements such as drums , electric guitar , electric bass and synthesizer sounds. Laura Giordano, Dario Farina, Ivano Pavesi and Giuseppe Zuppone are co-composers. As a soloist and in the melody, the oboe plays a central role in the sound structure.

history

The orchestra was founded in 1979. The first albums, Rondò Veneziano , La Serenissima , Venezia 2000 and Odissea Veneziana as well as their single releases were great successes. The following albums also reached charts in many European countries. The style of music was new back then and is still controversially discussed today. Countless TV appearances anchored the image of a nine-member ensemble in Rococo costumes among the audience. Around 30 musicians play live under the direction of Gian Piero Reverberi . Although Rondò Veneziano continues to give concerts, the last studio album with new titles was released in 2002. Best-of CDs and a second live album (with the previously unreleased composition Risveglio ) have been released since then .

The successful concept of Rondò Veneziano has been picked up over the years by various groups such as the German group Rondo Classico or the US group Nova Era .

The Rondò Veneziano Chamber Orchestra was launched in autumn 2008 and has so far released one album. Gian Piero Reverberi is accompanied by 14 strings and a French horn as a soloist on the piano. In this formation, the orchestra dispenses with electronics and rhythm instruments in the sense of a purely classical concert experience. Consequently, the musicians no longer appear in historical costumes, but in black evening clothes. The melodies are drawn from the well-known repertoire of Rondò Veneziano , but were rearranged for this orchestra formation by Gian Piero Reverberi.

Rondò Veneziano , under the direction of its founder, composer, arranger and conductor Gian Piero Reverberi, continues to give concerts in a large formation - with electronics, rhythm instruments and in historical costumes - but will increasingly also give concerts as a chamber orchestra.
