Gian Piero Reverberi , also Gianpiero Reverberi or Giampiero Reverberi , (born July 29, 1939 in Genoa ) is an Italian composer, arranger and music producer . He was best known as the founder and director of the Rondò Veneziano ensemble .

Reverberi studied piano and composition at the Paganini Conservatory in Genoa . During his studies he worked with his older brother Gian Franco Reverberi , who was already active in the music and record scene at the time, and came into contact with the “ Genoese School ”. At the age of 20 he realized his first large arrangement La gatta by Gino Paoli . He also worked with Luigi Tenco and Fabrizio De André . He wrote the arrangements of all early De André albums and partly composed the music for the singer's songs with him.

At the age of 24 (1963) he wrote his first hit Se mi vuoi lasciare for the Italian singer Gianfranco Michele Maisano, whom his brother had discovered shortly before. In the same year Maisano took part in the Cantagiro music competition under his stage name Michele and, after winning the newcomer category with the title, held first place in the Italian charts from 1963 for 7 weeks .

In 1964 Reverberi composed with Robert Mellin the film music for the English version of the four-part adventure play The Strange and Unique Adventures of Robinson Crusoe from York, reported by himself , which was broadcast on ZDF . In Germany, the music composed with Dario Farina for the cult television series Monaco Franze from 1983 made him known to a wide audience. After 1968 he produced for New Trolls , Le Orme and Lucio Battisti . Artists such as Caterina Valente , Paul Anka , Ricchi e Poveri and Eros Ramazzotti resorted to his compositions and arrangements.

In 1979 Gian Piero Reverberi founded the Ensemble Rondò Veneziano , for which he writes almost all compositions and arrangements. Pieces like La Serenissima , San Marco or Odissea veneziana made the group's name world famous and have been covered countless times. He received support with the arrangements from Laura Giordano, to whom he has been married since 1963.

Gian Piero Reverberi expanded his works with the Suite for Harmonica and Strings for Willi Burger , the 2nd Suite for Harmonica and Orchestra and the Concerto for Harmonica and Orchestra .
