Olympia Mörfelden is a bowling club from Mörfelden-Walldorf .

history

The club was founded in 1946 as Tuesday's bowling club in the Frankfurter Hof restaurant in Mörfelden . After the sports bowling group of the State Sports Association of Hesse was founded in Frankfurt am Main on April 4, 1947, a bowling group consisting of members of the three existing clubs Waldborn, Medde Druff and Olympia was created under the name SKV Mörfelden .

In 1951, the first team, which included members of all clubs, took part in the German Championships in Hanover for the first time. From Olympia Mörfelden Ludwig Dammel belonged to this team. In addition, the club member Horst Dickhaut was able to achieve the runner-up title at the German Youth Championships in the same year.

In 1954 the switch to combined bowling took place, while before that only full bowling took place . In 1957 Olympia Mörfelden became Hessian runner-up and was able to qualify for the German championship.

After the club became German champion in 1985, it took part in the European Cup in Zagreb , where it was second behind Medvesac Zagreb . In the 1985/86 season, Olympia was able to successfully defend the championship title from the previous year. Olympia closed the season with 100,446 wood, a new record.

In the 1986/87 game year, the Bundesliga team was able to secure the championship title again and became German champions for the third time in a row. With the participation in the European Cup shortly afterwards, Olympia Mörfelden was also able to secure the title. In the following season 1987/88 Olympia Mörfelden reached the German championship. At the German individual championships in June 1988 in Munich , team captain Jürgen Fleischer also became German champion in individual bowling. Club member Frank Keller finished eighth. In Europe Champions Cup in October 1988 in the Italian Bolzano , the club vice-champion is yet only the champions have to Romania to admit defeat.

In the 1988/89 season Mörfelden was only runner-up in the German championship for the first time after four titles and had to admit defeat to Rot Weiß Sandhausen , who had only been runner-up in both previous years. However, Olympia Mörfelden can win the title again in the European Cup in Munich. After the team reached 3rd and 4th place in the championship in the 1989/90 and 1990/91 seasons, it was only enough for 8th place in the 1991/92 season. The team was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga North. In the first second division season 1992/93, the team was second behind Vollkugel Eppelheim . Only a year later, however, the team managed to return to the 1st Bundesliga. In 1996 team captain Jürgen Fleischer was able to become German individual champion for the third time in his career. Fleischer was also successful at the World Championships in Prague in May 1996. With the national team he became world champion, bronze medalist in couples, and vice world champion in singles and combinations. This made him the most successful participant in this world championship.

After the 1999/2000 season he had to relegate the club again to the 2nd Bundesliga North, but rose again after only one year. Since then, the team has been playing first-class, but has to fight to stay up every year.

2008 Olympic Mörfelden was in Croatia's Zagreb NBC Cup winners against KK Adrianeon Rijeka .

In the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 seasons, the Olympians won the championship in the highest German Classic League and thus became German champions over 200 litters.

In the 2015/2016 season, Olympia Mörfelden remained unbeaten at home and secured the 7th national team title on April 9, 2016 with a 6,165: 5,950 home win against the German record champions VKC Eppelheim.
