Olympic game street

The Olympic Games Street was developed for the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 . Places were integrated into the sports landscape that made it possible to present the actions of artists of all genres (drama, visual arts, music, film) in an open form, in which everyone could take part.

The architect and urban planner Werner Ruhnau came up with the idea and took on the implementation of the project. He was modeled on the ideas of the cultural philosopher Johan Huizinga for “ Homo ludens ” .

The Spielstrasse program was stopped after the attack on the Israeli athletes .

Based on the model in Munich, the so-called game line was created in Kiel , which was the venue for the sailing competitions in 1972 , on the occasion of the Kiel Week .
