OmniWeb [ ɑːmniˈwɛb ] is a web browser for Mac OS X from The Omni Group .

OmniWeb was initially designed for NeXTStep and maintained for OpenStep ; newer versions have only been released for Mac OS X. After OmniWeb had been equipped with its own HTML renderer for a long time , it was decided in February 2003 to use Apple's KHTML -based WebKit (from version 4.5).

To position its paid browser against the free Apple Safari , Omni Group has built OmniWeb with a number of features, such as: B. individual preferences for each page (also for cookie management), form entry with text enlargement and spelling correction as well as an ad blocker. A special feature of OmniWeb (from version 5) is the tab bar to the right or left of the browser window, in which preview thumbnails of the web pages can be displayed in other tabs.

From version 5.9, which appeared in February 2009, the program is published as freeware .
