geography
Oneata is located around 25 km north-northeast of Moce and around 40 km southeast of Lakeba , the main island of the archipelago. Halfway to Lakeba is the small and uninhabited island of Aiwa , halfway to Moce - in the Oneata Passage - the ring-shaped and constantly flooded coral reef Cakau Lekaleka . Oneata is 4.5 km long and up to 1.7 km wide; their area can be estimated at around 5 km². The island is largely fringed by a coral reef, which has four passages in the north and allows entry into the lagoon . It is densely overgrown and reaches a height of 49 m above sea level. Within the lagoon, 750 m east of Oneata, lies the small, uninhabited island of Loa up to 43 m high (at 18 ° 26 ′ S , 178 ° 27 ′ W ). Oneata forms one of the 13 traditional districts ( Tikina ) of the Lau province and has two villages ( Koro ), Waiqori in the east and Dakuiloa in the west of the island.
