The Eastern Division is one of the four divisions of the Pacific state of Fiji . It is made up of the provinces of Kadavu , Lau and Lomaiviti . In the census, Rotuma , a dependency , is also treated as part of the Eastern Division, although it is in the extreme northwest , whereas the Eastern Division is in the southeast .

With a land area of ​​1376 km², the Eastern Division is the smallest in Fiji and consists of numerous islands south and east of the main islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu . The Eastern Division includes the islands of Kadavu and Ovalau , on the latter is the division capital Levuka .

In the 2007 census, 37,311 inhabitants were counted in the Eastern Division - minus the population of Rotuma - this consisted almost exclusively of iTaukei (indigenous Fijians).
