Cakaudrove
Cakaudrove is one of the fourteen Fijian provinces (yasana) and one of the three provinces on Vanua Levu . The province covers 2,816 km² and in 2017 had a population of 50,469 inhabitants. The only larger city is Savusavu with a population of approx. 3,500 people.
geography
The province is located in the southeast third of the island and also includes the nearby islands of Taveuni , Rabi , Kioa and a number of islands in the Vanua Levu group . The coast is divided by Savusavu Bay and Natewa Bay . Dakuniba village is known for the Ndakunimba Stones , the remains of a gigantic monolith adorned with petroglyphs .
history
Cakaudrove is one of Fiji's most influential provinces. Ratu Sir Penaia Ganilau , Fiji's last governor-general and first president , was Tui Cakau and Cakaudrove was the traditional seat of his chiefdom. Former Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is also from Cakaudrove. Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu currently has the title Tui Cakau . He is cabinet minister and leader of the Conservative Alliance-Matanitu Vanua (CAMV) party, a nationalist party with considerable support in Cakaudrove.
Cakaudrove is administered by the Cakaudrove Provincial Council .

- Ratu Rakuita Vakalalabure , politician, CAMV The Kubuabola family is a branch of the Ai Sokula clan, to which the present Tui Cakau and former Cabinet Minister Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu also belongs.

- Ratu Epeli Ganilau , a son of Penaia Ganilau, is the leader of the National Alliance Party of Fiji
- Ratu Jone Yavala Kubuabola is Fiji's Minister for Finance (since 2000) and representative of the South West Urban Fijian Communal Constituencies in the House of Representatives for Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SDL, since 2001). He was also Governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji
- Ratu Inoke Kubuabola , politician who served as Leader of the Opposition from 1999 to 2000 . After the election failure of Soqosoqo ni Vakavulewa ni Taukei (SVT) in 1999, he also became their party leader.
