Rewa is one of the fourteen Fijian provinces (yasana). It is located in the area of ​​the capital Suva . With an area of ​​272 km² it is the smallest of the provinces of Fiji. In 2017 the province had 108,016 inhabitants.

The area of ​​the province includes a large part of the capital Suva, but only parts of the suburban areas. In addition, the province consists of two parts: a part with Suva and its hinterland in the west and a non-contiguous area in the east, which is separated by areas of the Naitasiri province , and the Beqa archipelago .

Rewa is a very powerful province politically and traditionally. It forms the heart of the Burebasaga Confederacy , one of the three traditional chiefs . The Roko Tui Dreketi (chief of Rewa) is the leader of Burebasaga. The last two title holders were women: Ro Lady Lala Mara (1931-2004), the wife of Fiji's longtime Prime Minister and President Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara , and her sister and successor, Ro Teimumu Kepa , who is also Minister of Education in the Prime Minister's Government Laisenia Qarase (2001-2006) was. In 2014 she led the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SoDelPa) in the general election , the first public election since the 2006 Fijian coup d'état, and is now Leader of the Opposition . Rewa is administered by the Rewa Provincial Council . In the early 2000s, the chairmanship was vacant because the council decided not to hold the chairmanship until the 1997 Constitution of Fiji was amended to allow a member of parliament to hold both offices at the same time, so that Ro Teimumu Kepa can accept the post. In the meantime, Pita Tagicakiverata served as acting chairman.
