Onno Tunç

Onno Tunç (actually: Ohannes Tunçboyacı ; Armenian Օհաննես Թունչբոյաջյան ) (* December 20, 1948 in Istanbul , Turkey ; † January 14, 1996 in Armutlu , Yalova Province ) was a Turkish musician, composer and arranger of Armenian descent who was important for the Turkish pop music scene . He is the older brother of Arto Tunçboyacıyan .

Life

Onno Tunç worked as a bassist and as a songwriter. More than 175 compositions by him are known. He often represented Turkey at international music competitions. Onno Tunç died on January 14, 1996 when his private plane crashed on the way from Bursa to Istanbul.

Onno Tunç was close friends with the Turkish pop singer Sezen Aksu , they had worked together and composed. Onno Tunç had arranged all of Sezen Aksu's albums until his death. The artist dedicated several songs to the victim.
