Onosma echioides is a plant type from the type of onosma ( Onosma ) in the family of the Boraginaceae (Boraginaceae).
description
Onosma echioides is a more or less grass-forming, perennial plant that develops a few flower-bearing stems . These reach heights of growth of 10 to 30 cm, are upright, unbranched or not very branched, and fine and hairy with long, star-shaped bristles. The rays of the bristles are bent backwards. The lower leaves are 20 to 60 mm long and 1 to 7 mm wide, linear or linear-elongated and sparsely to densely haired with star-shaped bristles. The bristles are 1 to 1.5 mm long, colored white, gray or yellow and provided with 0.3 to 0.4 mm long rays.
The flower stalks are 0 to 2 mm long. The bracts are shorter or as long as the calyx . This is about 10 mm long at flowering time, enlarges on the fruit to up to 15 mm and is covered with simple and a few star-shaped bristles. The crown is 18 to 25 mm long, pale yellow and finely haired. It is about twice as long as the calyx, cylindrical at the tip and narrowing towards the base.
The fruits are about 2 to 5 mm long, smooth, shiny nuts .
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 14.
Occurrence
The species occurs in Italy , Sicily and in the western part of the Balkan Peninsula .
