history

In 1307 , Nicolaas van Putten set up a collegiate monastery at a previous church of today's late Gothic church . Today he and his wife Aleidis van Strijen rest in a marble tomb in the choir. The tower, which is partially built into the nave, was built in the first half, the single-nave long choir with a three-sided end in the second half of the 15th century. In 1515 a major dilapidation was reported. Then the basilica three-aisled nave and the transept arms received their shape. Only the northern arm of the nave extends beyond the aisle, the southern arm connects to the aisle, but has the same height as the central nave. The long choir and the north transept are separated from the church service room, which, according to Reformed tradition, is oriented towards the sermon pulpit in the nave. The congregation belongs to 2004 created Protestant Church in the Netherlands and has teamed up with neighboring communities to the Community of Tweestromenland ( Mesopotamia together).
